The Void: An End-of-Year Reflection 2024

End-of-Year Reflection 2024

That peculiar period between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve – I call it the void. It's that unsettling sensation of feeling ungrounded, slightly disorientated, as if suspended in time. Whilst calendars overflow with social commitments and work grinds to a halt, small business owners like myself feel the weight of unfinished tasks colliding with festive obligations. Ironically, this time meant for joy and connection often amplifies our stresses, reminding us that time continues to move at lightning speed whether we like it or not.

The remedy? Pause and reflect.

Setting Boundaries

When we allow ourselves to float mindfully in this void, we uncover the year's lessons and honour our growth. Reflection becomes our compass, revealing patterns that no longer serve us and illuminating paths that better align with our core values.

This year taught me the power of choosing myself. I've learnt to embrace 'no' without the burden of guilt, recognising it as my inner wisdom's protective signal. Whether declining an invitation when my body craves rest or stepping back from connections that don't feel right, each 'no' has become an act of self-respect rather than misbehaviour. Unlike our childhood conditioning suggested, saying no isn't defiance – it's a declaration of sovereignty and self-love.

Self-Trust and Inner Wisdom

For empaths like myself, ignoring our inner guidance can place us in a vulnerable position. While we may wish to see only love in the world, reality often presents a different picture. That's why it's crucial to trust your inner compass when it signals something's amiss – whether it's the unsettling feeling after being ghosted, the nagging sense that things don't add up, or the clear knowing that it's time to move on from a job, friendship, or potential relationship. Fear can keep us stuck in situations that offer temporary comfort, filling a void that ultimately only we ourselves can fill.

Letting Go of Fear in 2025

To break free, we must observe where energy feels stagnant and make conscious adjustments to restore its natural flow. When we finally allow ourselves to flow with life's rhythm, we begin to dance with the universe, opening ourselves to the magic and possibilities that have always been waiting for us.

As 2025 approaches, I commit to continuing this journey of self-trust. By listening to my body, heart, and inner compass, I navigate life more smoothly, guided by what feels authentically true. After all, living genuinely means honouring the wisdom that has resided within us all along.
